A Work of Passion and Purpose
When I embarked on my George Walker journey, it was with a sense of deep purpose. It made no sense to me that the music of a composer of this magnitude was not yet widely performed and recorded. I heard something in his music that was different than what I experienced in the few available recordings and felt compelled to share my individual vision with a wide audience. With the support of the great Naxos team, I am proud to be the first pianist to have recorded George Walker's complete solo piano works, in addition to the piano concerto. The experience of learning, performing, and recording Walker's complete piano output created a unique interpretation of these works. Vol. 1 has now been submitted for GRAMMY® nomination (Best Classical Instrumental Solo). The deadline to vote is October 15th.
